Daycare description / philosophy

My name is Tanya Johnson I have been working in child care for the past 13 years. I have worked with children of the ages 0-6 in a variety of child care settings. I have been trained in Early Childhood Education and have my Ontario and British Columbia ECE diploma. I have been trained on the YMCA Playing to learn Curriculum, and took part in creating training videos for this curriculum, I have also had the opportunity to take part in Building Resiliency In Children Training, High Scope Curriculum Training, and The Hannon Learning Language Training. I worked as a Teacher and Acting Director for the YMCA family Development centre for 5 years with all age groups. I also worked at the Whistler Children's Centre as the Head Teacher of the Periwinkle classroom for the past 3 years and as the Program Coordinator for several months.
I have two wonderful boys Hayden 7 years who is in grade 2 and Hunter 20 m and a fantastic Husband Doug. After spending Maternity leave with my boys at home I realized that my passion was to be able to spend more time with my children and a smaller group of children in my home, so that I could have more one on one time with the children in my care and provide a high quality learning environment. After seven successful months running a home day care it came time for us to move from Whistler to Invermere for a new job opportunity for my Husband. Well I am excited to re open Foundations Family Child Care and provide Invermere family's with a high quality child care setting with in my home
Purpose and Philosophy:
I believe that it is important to provide children with enriching experiences that foster healthy growth and development at their own pace, by doing this you are building strong foundations as the bases for learning thought their entire lives. Studies have shown that the first 6 years are the most influential years of a child's life, this is why I believe that it is important to influence children's learning by providing experiences that encourage healthy growth in all developmental domains. Each and every day the children in my care will be provided with a variety of group and quiet activities, materials and outings that will promote Social Emotional, Cognitive, Physical development, and Creative Expression.
